The owner of Hugh White Honda has purchased Taylor Automotive Group, which has auto dealerships in Lancaster and Athens.
Tim White, president of the White Family Companies of Dayton, announced the acquisition on Friday. It includes Buick, Chevrolet and Nissan franchises in Lancaster, and Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram, Honda and Nissan franchises in Athens.
The dealerships, which have a total of about 110 employees, have already been rebranded with the Hugh White name. All employees will be offered the opportunity to keep their jobs, White said.
“We’re very excited about he addition of these companies,” he said. “This will be our forth Honda franchise, and as everyone knows, Honda in Ohio is about the best franchise to have.”
Billy Thagard, who had been managing the Taylor dealerships, will remain there as a manager.
Before the purchase, the White Family Companies had just one location in central Ohio — Hugh White Honda on the Far West Side.
With the purchase, the company now has 22 locations, mostly in Ohio but also in South Dakota and Wyoming, and about 1,000 employees.
It was started in 1914 near Zanesville by Hugh White and is now run by the fourth generation of the White family.
